Historical Buildings

The museum opened at its current site in 1971 The main building was constructed in 1926 as the offices of the newly formed Upper Murray Shire Council. The volunteers have collected other significant buildings as they became in danger of demolition. These now make up our little ‘village’, and includes a Police Station, lock up, Rural School, ANZ Bank, Jarvis Cottage, and a replica of Riley’s hut. At the back of the Museum are the old Council storage sheds. These house our collection of historic farm machinery, carts and drays, and other industrial equipment. Some equipment can be seen in the photo on the right.
